Photo Ideas & New Unit

Well I have been busy these first few weeks of summer working on a new unit! My new school's kindergarten spends the first 2 weeks every year doing "Camp Kindergarten" where they really focus on routines, procedures, all that fun and exciting kindergarten stuff! :) They end the unit with a rotation of all the classrooms and different fun activities the kids get to do with the other teachers on our team. Sounds fun!! :) So I am working on changing some of my beginning of the year stuff to more of a camping theme which has kept me busy.

The other thing that I have been busy at work on... and frying my eyes from staring at the computer for too long is my photography business. I have been doing photography on the side for a year or two now as something fun I enjoy to do to make a little extra cash. Well the more sessions I have done the more it's sort of taken off on it's own! So this summer I have been working on getting my new website up and running as well as editing photos! I am hosting some mini sessions here in the next few weeks for back to school. I am pretty excited about how my preview session turned out and think the sessions I have coming up will be super cute! :)

SO I am going to be hosting my very first raffle copter for my friends here in the DFW area to have a shot at getting a free mini session! ($50 value)

Now, I know not everyone lives near me but I thought this might be a fun way to get my name out there as well as a fun opportunity for my friends to have a chance to win a free session!

Monday...

I am pretty proud of myself!! I have been quite productive for a Monday.

Things I have done:
1. Woke up and dropped my summer school stuff off at my new school... and got totally overwhelmed once again by the MESS that is my classroom. But her!! I marked on of my items on the Bloghoppin 2014 Scavenger hunt! :) Follow me on instagram by clicking here.

2. After leaving the school I got some Chipotle for my lunch. I started the 24 day challenge today! Day 1 cleansing has been a success! :)

3. Went to the grocery store. There was definitely a power outage in the midst of my shopping. That was a first... The high school boys were for sure enjoying pretending to rob each other in the darkness of the store, ha!

4. I came home and worked on some classroom decor with my new purple cow laminator. I am obsessed!!!

You can snag the super cute things I laminated in lamination overload by clicking the pictures below!

Ok that's all for now! :) Until next time...

Summer Challenge

Now that summer school is over I am about to get back to my healthy habits!!! End of the year makes for a rough go at it health wise! When 2014 rolled around I finally decided to give Crossfit a try. I was so intimidated by the sport, but see the amazing things people do/accomplish that I finally worked up the nerve to do it! I started a cleanse and began eating as clean as I could (had to have my nightly glass of "milk" as we call it at my school...) when I started cross fit and did really well with it. people were noticing a change in me... even better... I was noticing a change in me. I worked very hard at not focusing on the scale but more so about how I felt and the changes I could see with my body. I knew I was gaining tons of muscle so I didn't want to get defeated with a number.

Well, life and school for sure got in the way of all of this. April/May rolled around and we all know how the end of the year is + packing/moving campuses + preparing for summer school. Alright... YES, those are all a bunch of really lame excuses and someone should virtually slap me.

I mean... Can I get an AMEN to the quote on your left?! Sheesh. I sound awful!

All of that to say.

Tomorrow is the final day of summer school, which means endless amounts of time and ZERO excuses. I am already planning on being at my Box for 9 am class on Thursday... my first official day of summer! :)

I am ready to get back at it and climb the rope again! This was a GIANT for me, it was daunting me for months... and I did it! So, now to get back at it and do it again...and again...and again!

On top of getting back to the gym I am going to start my 24 Day GROUP Challenge with some friends. I love Advocare and all of their products. I love how I feel on (well... about day 4) the cleanse and the results I get. I am excited to do it with my sister and the whole Advocare team! It's a corporate challenge so it should be a big deal- lots of tips, recipes, etc! If you're interested in joining the challenge, comment or email me!

The more the merrier! I will be blogging about it for accountability and to share some scrumptious food I whip up! :)

Alright friends, I am up way past my bed time! I need lots of energy for my LAST DAY of school! :) I will be posting about grocery prep and other things later this week!

Enjoy your night!!

My life (school life) is a mess!

AH Saturday! :) No summer school today so I am having a great day! Enjoying some R&R. Hopefully everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Well... I had to drop some stuff off to my new school earlier this week. I had not been there since my things had been delivered. I am blessed to work in a district that moves your things for you as long as you are just transferring campuses SO I only had to tag/label every item...pack... and pile it all up! They placed everything on pallets, wrapped it up and forklifted it out of there! There were a few items I just felt it easier to take over myself (big books, and random boxes).

This is what I saw while I was there.
All of my things wrapped and waiting...

View from the door

Furniture that was left in my room... EEEEK

My new school! :)

So needless to say, I've got my work cut out for me!!! I can't get in until the end of July which is probably a good thing in that it forces me to enjoy my summer and take a break but it is making me feel a little overwhelmed. It will all work out though, always does! :)

I'mmmmm BAAACK

I say that in more than one way. :)

1. Time to dust off the cobwebs and get back to blogging. I do not have a legitimate excuse as to why I have been MIA this school year. My class was FAB, first grade was marvelous, life was good. Just blogging was not my number 1 priority! I wanted to focus on learning the curriculum this year rather than be all over pinterest or blog stalking... which is silly, i know. I did still do some stalking, just not as much in years past! :)

2. I am moving back to Kindergarten! So a) my blog name applies to what I am doing again and b) back to my old "stomping ground" if you will. Now, don't get me wrong. I absolutely LOVED first grade but there were also things I desperately missed about kindergarten. So, this is a bitter sweet move for sure... excited to get back to the amazing parts of kinder though and flash forward through the first 2-3 months of school  and see those sweet babies on the first day of school!!

Not only am I moving back to kindergarten but I am also moving to a new school. This has been a change I have been craving for quite some time. I am so incredibly excited for a new adventure next year, new community, new coworkers, the whole shebang. It was for sure an emotional exit leaving the place I found myself as an educator and have spent the last 7 years of my life, but it's a great change! :)

I am excited for a new year and lots of new things I want to put in place in my classroom such as Daily Five & Guided Math. I will be sharing more about that later. I first must survive Summer School! :(

Stay Tuned...

Bulletin Board BANANZAAAA!

Can I just say...

I love my student teacher!!! Having her there is AMAZING! I don't think I have ever been so organized and on top of things, ever!

Today, I don't know what got into me but I was crazy productive! I got 2 bulletin boards done, along with several other little odds and ends. But I wanted to share my boards with you because, I am obsessed!

First off is my writing bulletin board. We have been talking about the different ways we can write as a writer, so this pinterest inspired bulletin board is now almost complete! : )

Second Board: My Reading Level Achievement. I did something similar with my kids last year and it really encouraged OWNERSHIP with them! They really loved it! So this year I went off of our school mascot: Tigers. So, our theme song is the new Katy Perry song, Roar! I changed the wording a tad and made it apply to reading. I loooove it!

"I've got the eye of the tiger... and you're gonna hear me read!" (yes, I know an "n" is missing... dang auto correct deleted my extra n!!! that will be corrected tomorrow! :)

Do you have any cute/new bulletin boards you've been working??? If so, attach a link and share, I would love to see you're cute ideas!

Happy ALMOST Hump day!

Monday, September 2, 2013

Well, Hello September!

Let me start by saying that I LOVE FIRST GRADE!!! :) I survived my first week in first and let me just say that it's a BREEZE compared to what I am used to this time of year! I giggled as I saw the little ones walking in the hall and thought to myself-- i am in Heaven! :)

Well, I am linking up with Farley from OH Boy 4th Grade for her September Currently. I thought I would try to squeeze in a quick blog post before bed for one of my fav linkys! :)

I also wanted to share that being an insta-addict I am joining CF Classroom in their instagram picture a day for September! You can follow me on instagram...username "hayitsla". You should join up to! Just hashtag #cfclassroom

Lastly-- check out my TPT store! I just posted a cute little book on rules. We have been talking about rules and the importance of rules this week so I thought this book would be a fun way to "wrap up" the unit!

Hope everyone is loving their year so far! I promise to blog more once life slows down a little, sigh!
